Technology should move your business forward. Not get in its way.

Your Business Probably Doesn't Have an "IT Problem"
It has a friction problem. Technology may be part of the fix - but you shouldn't have to diagnose the technology before asking for help.
Start With the Problem, Not the Product
I learn your business first. Then I figure out whether technology is actually the answer - and if it isn't, I'll tell you that too.
What's frustrating you?
I start with what's frustrating you right now.
What's possible?
In a perfect world, how much could this business produce? What would have to be true to get there?
What's getting in the way?
I follow the process until I find the real bottleneck.
Fix the right thing.
Sometimes that's Wi-Fi. Sometimes it's automation, or not technology at all.
Measure it.
Did it save time, reduce errors, or recover capacity?
Repeat.
Growing businesses don't run out of problems - just the next one worth solving.
What This Has Actually Looked Like
A few examples of the kind of friction I've found and fixed. Details anonymized where the specifics are a client's to share, not mine.
Called in for: a new business systems implementation.
What surfaced: operational discovery turned up a significant
recurring labor expense before implementation had even begun.
The problem: about 20 hours of manual price-list updating, done
by hand across multiple systems every time a vendor changed a price.
What changed: automated the update instead of hiring for it.
The problem: Wi-Fi and network coverage designed for an office,
not a production floor - dead zones exactly where scanning and tracking needed
to work.
What changed: network redesigned around how the floor actually operates.
The problem: formal procedures existed only in one person's head -
nothing written down, nothing new hires could learn from without shadowing someone
for weeks.
What changed: a documentation system built around how the business
actually works.
Sometimes the Fix Is Technology You Already Know You Need
Once I've found the real problem, here's the kind of thing that ends up solving it.
Business Systems
ERP, CRM, workflow, integrations, and custom systems that replace disconnected processes.
Automation & AI
Remove repetitive work and recover employee capacity.
Infrastructure
Networks, Wi-Fi, computers, servers, and Microsoft 365.
Resilience & Security
Backups, recovery, cybersecurity, and business continuity.
Need something else? Start with the problem. I don't restrict the answer to what's on this list.
Especially Useful Where Operations Get Complicated
Every business is different, but these are where the friction tends to run deepest.
I start with the problem, before industry. Tell me what's going on.
The Reliability Part Isn't New
Before there was a Roadmap, there was just showing up when something broke and keeping backups that actually work. That track record is still the foundation everything else gets built on.
"Ross has managed our backups for years. Whenever we have a server problem, he's always quick to get us up and running again."
"Nowell Tech has kept us running smoothly for years. Our backups are always verified and on schedule and our computers always run as fast as the day we bought them."
"Ross got our computer back up and running fast and it works better than ever!"
"Ross has done an amazing and timely job. Repaired my pc, upgraded, and we're running smooth now. Highly recommend."
A Local, Family-Owned Company
Nowell Tech got its start inside a family business. That's where I learned to look at technology from the owner's side of the desk. Read the full story.
"We don't use contracts or lock-in to keep clients. You can leave any time - we just try to earn the business by doing good work."
No Hostages
- Your data and credentials belong to you.
- What we build gets documented.
- If I haven't done something before, I'll tell you.
- If someone else is better suited to solve it, I'll find them.
- If we ever part ways, the next competent person should be able to understand what we built.
